Bold City Con is a three-day, first-year variety convention in Jacksonville, Florida at the Regency Mall. Despite a last minute change of venue, this convention was a wild success! Famous guests, engaging activities, and informative panels drew in crowds of people and made this inaugural event memorable.
Last month, we gave you ‘4 Big Reasons to Attend Bold City Con 2022.’ In this blog, we give you four reasons why Bold City Con was an extraordinary experience.
Reason # 1: Extraordinary Celebrities!
Bold City Con featured a variety of famous actors. Florida Comic Cons caught up with three of them: Doug Jones, Mindy Sterling, and Jason Marsden.
Doug Jones
Renowned creature actor, Doug Jones (top left), is most famous for his character acting and monster makeup. He’s brought popular creatures to life such as Fauno and Pale Man in Pan’s Labyrinth, Abe Sapien in Hellboy, Amphibian Man in The Shape of Water, Billy Butcherson in Hocus Pocus, and many more! This was Doug Jones’ first time appearing at a Florida convention.
Mindy Sterling
Mindy Sterling (top right) made quite an impact as well. Bold City attendees welcomed her with excitement. Her most famous roles include Frau Farbissina in Austin Powers, Lin Beifong in The Legend of Korra, Mrs. Briggs in iCarly, and Linda Schwartz in The Goldbergs.
Jason Marsden
Jason Marsden (bottom), is as much of a voiceover artist as he is an on-screen actor. Fans lined up to meet the man behind Max Goof in A Goofy Movie, Haku in Spirited Away, Thackery Binx in Hocus Pocus, Bart Allen in Young Justice, and Kovu in The Lion King II.
Reason # 2: Extraordinary Cosplayers!
Between the Bold City Con attendees who dressed up and the professional guest cosplayers, there were some truly memorable outfits to see!

Cosplay Guests
There were so many amazing featured cosplay guests at Bold City Con! We snapped photos of a few of the talented individuals. Legendary cosplay duo @akrcos and @inspectorlemoncosplay (top left) did not disappoint with their stunning cosplays and they even brought along their friend @sandreysapphire. @lunanoircos (top left and right) made his debut as a featured cosplayer and judged the cosplay competition. @sailorscoutsjax (bottom left) were busy all weekend. They had so many phenomenal cosplayers representing at least 10 separate Sailor Moon characters! The transformative make-up artist, @madeinhellcosplayfx, was doing live make-up demonstrations throughout the weekend as well. She specializes in horror and creature looks.
Reason # 3: Extraordinary Panels!
Experts were invited to conduct panels for guests at Bold City Con. From actors to cosplayers, the informative and entertaining programming was not to be missed.

Actors shared their experiences behind the scenes and explained how they entered the industry. Cosplayers educated the audience on make-up, wig-styling, performing, and sewing.

Bold City Con was filled with enticing vendors! The vendor that made their way into our spotlight was Jackalope Cosmetics
Jackalope Cosmetics
Jackalope Cosmetics is a make-up company for cosplayers and alternative subcultures. They were founded in 2020 and are based right out of Jacksonville, Florida, home of Bold City Con. Their products focus on versality, inclusivity, and creativity. Jackalope has sponsored various cosplay competitions throughout Florida and hopes to continue inspiring cosplayers and encouraging people to love who they are.

Collective Con 2022 is an anime convention held in Jacksonville, Florida on March 11-13. And, the three-day event is at the Jax Expo Center at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.
