Anime voice actor Chris Guerrero who voices popular characters like Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord and Shadow from Sk8 the Infinity is scheduled to appear at a new anime convention in St. Petersburg, Florida called “Anime St. Pete” on September 17-18 at the Coliseum. Also, Guerrero voices characters in long-standing anime shows like One Piece and Fairy Tail.

Chris Guerrero began his professional voice acting career in 1993, but his first significant role was the Narrator in Toriko. With almost 30 years of voiceover experience, he’s lent his voice to many popular characters.

Our 8 Favorite Chris Guerrero Characters

In honor of Guerrero appearing at Anime St. Pete, Florida Comic Cons presents our 8 favorite Guerrero characters (in order).

  1. Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord
  2. Shadow from Sk8 the Infinity
  3. Takeuchi from Mars Red
  4. Ifrit from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
  5. Lavender from Dragon Ball Super
  6. Kenji Tsuragamae from My Hero Academia
  7. Ichiya from Fairy Tail
  8. Gecko Moria from One Piece

Favorite character # 1: Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord

Ainz Ooal Gown, formerly Momonga, from Overlord was Guerrero’s first lead role in an anime. Ainz is the Overlord of Nazarick and seeks to protect it above all else. He is cold, calculating, and known to lie when necessary. Underneath his harsh exterior, though, is hidden nobility. His friends are dear to him. Ainz sees himself as their guardian and attempts to be someone they can look up to.

Favorite character # 2: Shadow from Sk8 the Infinity

In Sk8 the Infinity, an incredibly well-received show of 2021, Guerrero voiced Hiromi Higa, also known as “Shadow,” by the underground skateboarding scene. By day, Hiromi is a polite flower salesman that loves serving his boss. By night, Hiromi takes on his “Shadow” persona and becomes rowdy, loud, and violent. Listening to Guerrero change his speaking manner for both sides of Shadow is so fun to watch!

Favorite character # 3: Takeuchi from Mars Red

Guerrero’s most recent character on our favorites list is Takeuchi from Mars Red. In a world where vampires are lurking around every corner, this mad scientist turned vampire has an immortal brain and a deranged personality.

Favorite character # 4: Ifrit from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Chris Guerrero was able to bring out his inner monster for the role of Ifrit from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Ifrit is the Greater Flame Spirit who had possessed Shizue Izawa. As the series goes on, we see some very endearing moments between Ifrit and other monstrous characters.

Favorite character # 5: Lavender from Dragon Ball Super

Lavender from Dragon Ball Super is the middle brother in the Trio of Danger and another villainous role for Guerrero. He faces off against Gohan in the Tournament of Power.

Favorite character # 6: Kenji Tsuragamae from My Hero Academia

Chris Guerrero also occasionally portrays more serious characters. My Hero Academia‘s Kenji Tsuragamae is the Chief of Police and a strict abider of the law. He makes his first appearance in the Field Training Arc informing the students on how to properly adhere to the rules so they can become successful heroes.

Favorite character # 7: Ichiya from Fairy Tail

Ichiya Vandalay Kotobuki makes quite the impression in Fairy Tail. One of Guerrero’s more comedic characters, Ichiya is a member of Blue Pegasus and the leader of the Trimen. He is an eccentric womanizer and believes himself to be more handsome than he is.

Favorite character # 8: Gecko Moria from One Piece

Chris Guerrero plays the swashbuckling antagonist, Gecko Moria in One Piece. Gecko is the captain of the Thriller Bark Pirates. He uses his shadow to fight, but ultimately prefers to use his subordinates to fight instead. He believes he can become the Pirate King by relying on others.
