Synopsis

We follow the story of 27-year-old run-down Takemichi Hanagaki, who lives an under-whelming life, but that’s about to change. Takemichi hears on the news that his once middle school ex-girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, was killed by the Tokyo Manji gang. The Tokyo Manji gang, or Toman for short, is an organization of dangerous criminals who bring nothing but trouble. After a series of unfortunate events that day, Takemichi stands waiting for the train, when suddenly he is pushed onto the tracks. Images of Hinata flash through his mind and he reminisces about his middle school days. When Takemichi opens his eyes again, he is standing on the train with his middle school friends in the year 2005, 12 years into the past.

Confused, he goes along with the flow and finds himself on the losing side of a fight with much stronger opponents. Admitting defeat, Takemichi and his friends become errand boys for Toman. After visiting Hinata’s home and crying his heart out, he saves a young boy from a group of delinquents. Coincidentally the boy is Hinata’s younger brother, Naoto. Takemichi ends up confessing his story of time-traveling. They agree to rewrite the future to save Hinata and after shaking hands, Takemichi wakes back up in 2017, greeted by a future Naoto.

Tokyo Revengers Naoto and Takemichi

After waiting 12 years to find him, Naoto reveals he has a plan to save his sister. Takemichi is forced to memorize every detail of the plan and of the Tokyo Manji gang before sending him back to the past. The gang is run by Manjiro Sano and Kisaki Tetta, two of the world’s most dangerous criminals. Takemichi and Naoto agree that he needs to go into the past and befriend either leader in order to change the future. After shaking hands, Takemichi is sent back into the past and finds himself in the middle of a fight, where he is taken down after one punch from his opponent.

Takemichi wants to return to the future due to feeling unable to complete his task, on the search for Naoto, he runs into Hinata. He remembers his vow to protect her and swears he’ll change her fate. The next day at school Takemichi challenges an incredibly strong opponent and is badly beaten. Takemichi refuses to be taken down and continues getting back on his feet after each hit, showing his incredible perseverance. He is then approached by Manjiro Sano (Mikey) and Ken Ryuguji (Draken), the current leader and vice-commander of Toman. Mikey takes a liking to “Takemitchy” and takes him under his wing. Takemichi has succeeded in the first step to save Hinata.

Cosplay Options

Also, if you’re interested in cosplaying from Tokyo Revengers, most characters wear designated uniforms for each team and captain of the Toman gang.

Takemichi Hanagaki

Takemichi is a crybaby with a strong heart and has amazing perseverance. No matter what obstacle he has to take on he will always get back on his feet. In the past Takemichi wore his bleached hair up in a loose mohawk and was typically seen in his school uniform. As an adult Takemichi wore his black hair down and wore casual clothing. Unsuprisingly, Takemichi has an abnormal taste in fashion and commonly wears interesting outfits.

Manjiro Sano (mikey)

Mikey is the childish leader and founding member of the Tokyo Manji gang. The shorter than average teen packs a mighty kick. Mikey’s fighting skills are unparalleled leaving him as the head of the gang and he is well-respected. Typically seen in his uniform with the jacket draped over his shoulders. Another outfit Mikey can be found in consists of a matching green top and bottom and black sandals.

Ryuguji Ken (Draken)

Draken is the vice-captain and a founding member of the Tokyo Manji gang. The tall teenager has both sides of his hair shaved, showing off the signature dragon tattoo on his left temple. Draken most commonly wears the signature Toman uniform, reflecting his position in the gang. Outside of his uniform Draken typically wears a long patterned cardigan. Additionally, he wears a silver earring on his right ear.
