Fairy Tail is an action, adventure, and fantasy manga series that takes place in the Kingdom of Fiore. Written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima, the manga was serialized in Kodansha‘s weekly shōnen magazine from August 2006 to July 2017. The series gained an anime starting in October of 2009 and ended in September 2019. Other popular works by Hiro Mashima include Rave Master and Edens Zero.
Synopsis
Lucy Heartfilia is a celestial wizard who dreams of joining the Fairy Tail guild. Fairy Tail is ranked as Magnolia’s #1 heroic and destructive guild. The members are always there when needed, but may cause more destruction in the process of saving the day. We first meet Lucy in the town of Magnolia searching for the guild. Lucy runs into a suspicious man claiming to be Fairy Tail’s famous Salamander. The man has enchanted the crowd around him and Lucy is hypnotized by his appearance. She then meets a pink-haired mage and his sassy talking cat, they burst through the crowd and disrupt the hypnotism. Lucy as a thank you to her saviors offers to treat them to lunch. Soon regretting her decision, Lucy watches horrified as her wallet empties and their stomachs fill, due to the young mage’s extreme appetite.
Later that night Lucy ends up in a perilous situation and is saved by the man she had treated to lunch. Destroying the town in the process of saving Lucy, the three of them run away from military officials. She learns the man’s name is Natsu and he is part of the Fairy Tail guild that she had been looking for. Natsu recruits Lucy and brings her to the guild and this is just the start of their journey together.
Join team Natsu on the search for his father Igneel who suddenly disappeared July 7, X777. Natsu was taken in by the Fairy Tail guild along with Gray Fullbuster and Erza Scarlet as children. Always by Natsu’s side is his snarky blue exceed, Happy, a blue cat with wings. Throughout the series viewers watch as each character finds their strength and the reason why they fight, making friends along the way.

Natsu Dragneel
Natsu Dragneel is a hot-headed, fire wielding mage with a heart ten times his size. This pink-haired protagonist is usually seen with a black vest, white pants, and sandals. He flaunts his red Fairy Tail guild mark at all times along with his white scarf, a present from his father, Igneel.
Lucy Heartfilia
Lucy Heartfilia’s outfits vary throughout the show in order to keep herself fashionable. Lucy uses celestial spirit magic and is in possession of many keys, including the golden keys, which are high ranked as the zodiac. She is usually seen in skirts and sleeveless tops. Her pink Fairy Tail guild mark is located on the back of her right hand. Lucy also carries a brown bag to hold her celestial keys and to carry her whip. She typically wears her blonde hair up in ponytails.
Gray Fullbuster
Gray Fullbuster is a dark-haired wizard who has a strange habit of subconsciously shedding his clothing. He uses ice-make, a type of molding magic. The laid-back wizard bears his guild mark on the right side of his chest. Around his neck he wears a silver chain with a cross, along with a matching bracelet and chain on his pants. Additionally Gray changes outfits many times throughout the series but somehow he always ends up in his birthday suit!
Erza Scarlet
Erza Scarlet is a strong young woman with long scarlet-colored hair. Her power “requip” is a form of spatial magic that allows Erza to change armor and weapons at-will. Erza is a S-class mage in Fairy Tail, which is the highest class with special privileges, such as higher ranked quests. She is also said to have over 100 different armors and many fear her name. Erza is also known by the name Titania, meaning queen of the fairies, because she is a well-known protector of the Fairy Tail guild. Her blue guild mark is located on her left upper arm.
