Amazing World Of Gumball and To Your Eternity Voice Actor Jacob Hopkins to Appear at a Florida Comic Convention

Voice actor Jacob Hopkins, who is known for voicing Gumball in the Amazing World of Gumball and Fushi in To Your Eternity, will be appearing at St. Pete Comic Con 2023. The convention will be January 7-8 at the Coliseum in historic St. Petersburg, Florida.

Hopkins is an L.A. based actor who has worked in the business since he was four years old. As a voice actor, he is best known for the voice of Gumball Watterson in Cartoon Network’s multi-award-winning animated TV series, “The Amazing World of Gumball”.  Presently, he is the lead voice of Fushi in the anime TV series “To Your Eternity”, Shun Kamiya in “Tribe Nine”, Oishi Shuichiro in “Prince of Tennis” and “Prince of Tennis II”, Code in “Boruto”, and Makoto Katai in “Komi Can’t Communicate” all airing on HBO Max, Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.  In addition to his recurring roles which include the anime TV series, “In The Land of Leadale” as Roxilius, “The Vampire Dies in No Time” as Homerun Batter and “Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan” as Nekota. Other voice over work includes his role as Axel Finke on the Dreamworks animated TV series, “Dragons Rescue Riders” airing on Netflix and Peacock TV. Since 2013, he has had the pleasure of portraying Chad Kremp on ABC’s hit comedy, “The Goldbergs”, & Miller in the feature film, “Middle School The Worst Years of My Life”. Additionally, Hopkins voices a variety of characters and guest starred on many other TV shows, commercials, games, and apps.  Some highlights include a recurring role as Alexander Drew on HBO’s “True Blood,” starring opposite Alex Skarsgard & Steven Moyer, as well as films starring opposite Elizabeth Banks in “Just A Little Heart Attack”, Lifetime’s “Missing at 17”, and “Carolina’s Calling”.

Hopkins is also  an accomplished martial artist with a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo and attends University of Central Florida as a Business Major. In his spare time, he enjoys drumming, reading, drawing, gaming, and spending time with family and friends.

Favorite Character #1: Gumball from The Amazing World of Gumball

Gumball is a 12-year-old blue cat attending Elmore Junior High and is the protagonist of The Amazing World of Gumball. Despite his average performance in school, Gumball is clever and imaginative in developing mischievous schemes. He is also quick witted with his words and very protective of his loved ones. While exhibiting a cynicism of society of a whole, Gumball is pretty optimistic. And quick to remind others about the joys in life.

Over the years the cartoon style of the Amazing World of Gumball has evolved leading to appearance changes in the characters, however Gumball is still recognizable as the iconic blue cat.

Favorite Character #2: Fushi from To Your Eternity

The story of To Your Eternity revolves around Fushi, who is brought into the world as an orb. Fushi is an immortal being that is able to take the form of those that have died in his presence. He most often takes the form of a young boy with no name because he promised to never forget him.

Later he meets a little girl named March who names him Fushi, becasue of the kanji spelling of Immortality. He is tasked with learning all he can about the world but is given no hints on where to start or what he’s supposed to learn.

Favorite Character #3: Code from Boruto

Code is introduced as one of Kara, an organization that wants to fulfil the lingering desires of the Ōtsutsuki Clan to become supreme celestial beings that continuously evolve. Code was initially selected by the Kara to be a vessel for Isshiki. In the end Kawaki was chosen, leading Code to become extremely jealous. Though Code wasn’t chosen, he did survive the selectins process, which is an incredible feat on its own and speaks volumes about his power level. Eventually, it is shown that Code is so powerful he need limiters to be implanted on his body.

Code’s personality is arrogant and vindictive, but is also very clever and cautious when needed. He actively avoids coming into contact with Naruto and Sasuke with his limiters still in place, even though he knows his natural power would be able to compete with them. He desires complete the world tree for Isshiki even though he knows the Otsutsuki Clan is known for destroying worlds.

Favorite Character # 4: Matahiko Nekota from Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniison

Matahiko Nekota is the owner of the bar Cat Kick in Life Lessons With Uramichi Oniison. He is soft-spoken but friendly and outgoing, but he works hard to support his two children after being divorced. Nekota knows two of the main characters, Mitsuo Kumatani and Tobikichi Usahara, from his time living with them at a university, but he ended up moving out to be with his girlfriend, who he later married and divorced.

Nekota is a a bit obsessed with the women in his life and makes his decisions based on his relationships. He moved out before getting a chance to meet Uramichi Omata in university, so he only has rumors and the complaints of Kumatani and Usahara who both currently work with Uramichi.

Favorite Character #5: Suichiro Oishi from The Prince of Tennis

Suichiro Oishi is a third year student at Seishun Academy where The Prince of Tennis takes place. He is the vice captain of the tennis team and tends to be a big worrier, and he is known for putting others safety and needs before himself even to the point injury. However, he will snap if it seems like his team members are not putting forth their best efforts. Suichiro specializes playing doubles, and is often considered one of the best doubles players in the series.

Favorite Character #6: Axel from Dreamworks Dragons: Rescue Riders

Axel is a young teen that stowed away on ship to Huttsgalor, a small island on the edge of the Viking empire, to stay with his uncle, Magnus Finke. Once with his uncle, he vows to take down the Rescue Riders after unsuccessfully trying to steal a dragon egg.

Hopkins says, “Axel Finke is a pro conman. He knows how to get exactly what he wants, when he wants it.” He is often conniving and clever. However, he has a deeply hidden desire to belong somewhere, shown by his desire to be helpful to his uncle despite being insulted repeatedly.

Favorite Character #7: Shun Kamiya from Tribe Nine

Shun Kamiya is the leader of the Minato Tribe in Tribe Nine. Tribe nine takes place in Neo-Tokyo, where outlaws groups called “tribes” rule. In an effort to decrease war between the tribes, the Neo-Tokyo government enacts the Extreme Baseball (XB) Law. This law limits fighting between tribes to XB battles.

Shun is known as one of the best XB players in Neo-Tokyo, but is also unchallenged when fighting with fists. Despite his intense abilities in the XB battles, he’s also a bit of a goofball.
